The Cornerstone Classic, held each year on the Friday before Memorial Day Weekend, began in 1996, the first year that Apple Greens opened for 18 holes. The Tournament has continued to grow ever since: in 2011 the Tournament utilized all 27 holes.

About the Classic
The event is a fundraiser for the New Paltz High School Scholarship fund, to which we annually donate two $500 awards to male and female student athletes.
Speed of play: The event historically draws between 160 and 180 players and prides itself in completing play in less than 5 hours.
The Tournament is divided into 3 flights to accommodate all levels of play; from low single digit handicappers to those who regularly shoot in the 100’s.
Prizes
Prizes are awarded to the top 10 places in all flights, closest to the pin on all par 3’s and long drive for men and women. Prizes are also given for Low Gross in the A and B flights.
Prizes at all levels are fun, ranging from Golf attire and P&G’s Gift Cards, to Bud Light lounge chairs with speakers.
While the Day is meant to be FUN with “casual” prizes, we expect all players to RESPECT Apple Greens, the Rules of Golf and each other.
Event and After Party
At registration everyone receives an embroidered custom fitted golf cap while helping themselves to Wallkill View Farms homemade cider doughnuts and orange juice.
In addition to lunch at the turn, beer at the club house and drinks on the course, the after party at P&G’s is an event in itself. Appetizers including all-you-care-to-eat shrimp cocktail, fried calamari, chicken wings and assorted hors d’oeuvres are followed by a buffet or Prime rib, fresh salmon and pork tenderloin. All this during a 3 hour open bar.
How Do They Do It?
You may wonder: how can they host this Tournament for such a modest entry fee? So do we!
